Ukraine, Thailand plan to hold Joint Trade Commission meeting and business forum by year-end

The Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand posted a corresponding announcement on Facebook upon a meeting between Ambassador of Ukraine Andriy Beshta and Director General of Trade Negotiations Department of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand Mrs. Auramon Supthaweethum.

As noted, both sides expressed interest in providing a boost to cooperation on trade and investment in order to make full use of the existing potential for further development in these areas.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the trade agreement signed in 2017 between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, in particular the importance of holding an inaugural meeting of the Joint Trade Commission and the Ukraine-Thailand Business Forum by the end of 2020," the statement reads.

According to the diplomatic mission, Ukraine became the largest grain supplier to Thailand in 2019 with exports worth more than $140 million. In total, in 2019, the trade turnover in goods and services between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Thailand amounted to more than $570 million with a positive balance for Ukraine of more than $116 million.
