Rescue efforts conclude after deadly drone strike on Kramatorsk apartment building
The State Emergency Service (SES) reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
According to the agency, rescuers retrieved the body of a deceased person from under the rubble. They also freed an elderly woman from the collapsed apartments on the second and third floors; she was handed over to police paramedics to be taken to a hospital.
Another person with limited mobility was rescued from a blocked apartment on the second floor and transferred to an ambulance team.
Emergency responders had to repeatedly halt rescue operations due to targeted Russian strikes on the same area while they were working.
In total, 35 tons of building debris were cleared at the site of the attack.
As reported earlier, in the afternoon of December 1, Russian forces began attacking Kramatorsk with Geran-2 drones. The invaders deliberately targeted residential areas and infrastructure objects, launching a total of eight UAVs. The assault continued until the evening.
At 18:00, one of the drones struck the apartment block, causing a large fire.
Initial reports indicated two people killed and five injured.
