In the Bakhmut direction, Russian invaders have opened fire on Ukrainian positions 249 times over the past day.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Over the past day, on the Bakhmut front, 249 strikes have been launched with different artillery pieces,” Cherevatyi told.

However, in his words, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are regularly destroying enemy artillery ammunition and fuel depots. Thus, Russians are forced to arrange shell unloading sites not closer than 100 kilometers from the frontline.

“We are working to ensure that they [Russians – Ed.] have fewer opportunities to hit a larger area of our positions and have constant access to ammunition,” Cherevatyi stressed.

According to Cherevatyi, fierce battles for the Donetsk region’s Soledar continue. The situation is challenging but controlled there.

“Heavy efforts are now underway to endorse the most effective management decisions that will allow us to stabilize the situation there, inflict the maximum damage on the enemy and minimize our losses,” Cherevatyi added.

In his words, Soledar defenders are preventing the enemy from creating an encirclement, reaching the rear or operational space.

A reminder that the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied the statements made by the Russian military about their alleged capture of the Donetsk region’s Soledar.
