Ukraine’s forces repel mechanized Russian assault near Dobropillia after over six hours of fighting

The First Corps of Ukraine’s National Guard Azov reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform notes.

According to the statement, on October 27 Russian forces once again attempted a mechanized assault near Dobropillia, seeking to capture Shakhove and Volodymyrivka.

The invaders used 29 pieces of armored equipment, making this assault one of the largest in recent times. A notable feature was the increased number of tanks involved.

The enemy advanced its vehicles in small groups of four to five units along different routes and at different times, hoping to complicate the Ukrainian forces’ ability to repel the attack. They also relied on unfavorable weather conditions that hinder drone operations.

The assault lasted for more than six hours. It was repelled thanks to pre-prepared defensive engineering positions, effective minefields, and coordinated actions by Defense Forces units, primarily artillery crews of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as crews operating unmanned systems.

As a result, Russian forces lost two tanks, twelve armored fighting vehicles, and one light vehicle.

To destroy enemy infantry that dismounted from their vehicles, Ukrainian defenders employed FPV drones. Clearance operations at the landing points of the invaders are still ongoing.

As reported earlier by Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Defense Forces yesterday stopped 76 Russian assault actions in the Pokrovsk sector, including near Shakhove and Volodymyrivka.
