Ukraine's parliament forms commission to probe actions threatening economic security
According to Ukrinform, 211 MPs voted for the legislative initiative No. 15079 at a parliament meeting on Thursday.
The new commission will investigate potential unlawful actions by officials of state authorities, other governmental bodies, and enterprises in the public sector that may have harmed Ukraine's economic security.
Its primary focus includes examining possible misconduct by officials from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), National Police, Bureau of Economic Security, State Customs Service, State Tax Service, National Agency for the Detection, Investigation, and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes, State Financial Monitoring Service, State Audit Service, National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, State Border Guard Service, as well as state-owned enterprises.
The commission will also collect information regarding technical assistance, loans, and credits provided to Ukraine by foreign and international organizations since the start of the full-scale invasion, and analyze the implementation of Ukraine's obligations tied to such support.
The commission will be chaired by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak from the (Holos faction, with MP Anastasiia Radina from the Servant of the People faction serving as deputy chair.
The adoption and implementation of this initiative are expected to strengthen parliamentary oversight by investigating possible illegal actions by officials and state-sector entities that could compromise economic security. It will also improve the monitoring of Ukraine's fulfillment of obligations to international and foreign organizations, which is essential for continued technical assistance and credit support.
