The Ukrainian army counter-attacked Russian troops near Kyiv and hit five tanks in the early hours of March 10.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Vadym Denysenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian interior minister, said this live on the Rada TV channel.

"The Ukrainian army launched a counter-attack near Kyiv. We hit five tanks," he said.

According to Denysenko, artillery fighting continued on the western outskirts of the Ukrainian capital early on Thursday.

"We understand that fighting is taking place there now, but there is no more detailed information," he added.

As reported, on February 24, Russian President Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been killing civilians, shelling and destroying key infrastructure, with missiles hitting Ukrainians' homes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization.
