“Eradicating sexual and gender-based violence is a key priority for Canada both at home and here in Ukraine... I am pleased to announce the Canadian government's funding of a new $7 million project to help 30 communities prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence. At the national level, the project will also help national institutions provide services to victims and fund violence prevention programs,” Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza said at the opening of an exhibit titled “The thing is...” dedicated to the problem of domestic violence, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
She added that the UN Population Fund would implement this project and expressed hope for further close cooperation on this issue with the Government of Ukraine, local authorities and NGOs.
On November 25, the exhibit "The thing is" as part of the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence opened on the Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv.
The international action titled “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” is held annually from November 25 to December 10.
