Next round of the negotiation process may occur at end of February — Dmytro Kuleba
The former Foreign Minister made this statement in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda, as reported by Ukrinform.
According to the diplomat, significant progress has been made and formalized in the peace talks between Ukraine, Europe, and the US, as what has been discussed for many years has finally been put on paper and structured.
"If, for some reason, nothing works out now, the next attempt will not start 100 meters from the goal, but from one meter, although this is the hardest meter.
But at the same time, I believe that by the end of winter, there will be no agreement with the Russians on a ceasefire for a straightforward reason: Why did they destroy everything in the energy sector and the economy before winter, only to suddenly stop? It is clear that this is not their strategy," Kuleba said.
In this context, he noted that Putin will “fight various wars” until his last breath, as it is convenient for him to rule the country in this manner.
“I think the next round of the negotiation process will be at the end of February. And then there will be an attempt somewhere in the summer, then again at the end of winter,” the diplomat predicted.
According to him, there are factors putting pressure on the Russians, but it is not yet at a level that would force Putin to reconsider his negotiating position seriously.
"Therefore, I think that Putin has no interest in ceasing fire today without completing the task in the Donetsk region. However, the negotiation track will continue: ‘Yes, yes, let's talk, we would like this and that here.’ And at the same time, Putin will push forward on the ground and in the air," the former Foreign Minister believes.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russian leader Vladimir Putin instructed the troops to continue carrying out the “special military operation” in Ukraine. These orders were given after US President Donald Trump said he believed Moscow was committed to ending the war in Ukraine.
