Zelensky discusses security and support for Ukraine with Italian President
According to Ukrinform, Zelensky shared details of the meeting on Telegram.
“President of Italy Sergio Mattarella and I discussed the security situation in Ukraine, across our Europe, and also in the Middle East and the Gulf region. I gave an overview of our agreements with countries of the region regarding security cooperation. It is important to develop a joint protection system in Europe as well.,” he said.

The two sides also focused on support needed to ensure Ukraine’s energy resilience, unblocking a €90 billion financial package for Ukraine, the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, and progress in negotiation clusters related to Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

The Ukrainian President expressed gratitude to Italy for its assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector during the difficult winter period.
“I thank the President for his unwavering, principled position in support of Ukraine and our people,” Zelensky added.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky noted that Italy supports Ukraine in unblocking €90 billion in EU credit assistance for 2026–2027.
