The ambassadors of the G7 countries have emphasized the importance of the Verkhovna Rada adopting the law on the Security Service of Ukraine as soon as possible without further amendments.

According to Ukrinform, the UK Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors' Support Group in Kyiv reported this on its Twitter account.

"G7 Ambassadors reiterate the importance of the Verkhovna Rada adopting the SBU law as soon as possible without further amendments," the tweet reads.

According to the ambassadors, the current draft, implemented successfully, provides the basis for transforming the SBU into a modern security service, enhancing Ukraine's security and prosperity.

On January 28, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada adopted at first reading Bill No. 3196-d "On the Introduction of Amendments to the Law of Ukraine 'On the Security Service of Ukraine'" to improve the organizational and legal framework of the SBU.

At the same time, MPs submitted more than 2,500 amendments to the SBU reform bill ahead of its second reading.
