Ukraine builds system to counter Russia's shadow grain fleet – Zelensky
According to Ukrinform, Zelensky stated this on Telegram following a briefing from Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha regarding the synchronization of Ukrainian sanctions with those of international partners in countering Russia's grain fleet and shadow oil fleet.
"Importantly, our work with partners has been intensified to synchronize sanctions – Ukrainian sanctions in partners' jurisdictions and partners' sanctions in our jurisdiction. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha reported on these and other contacts. In particular, we are working more systematically on Russia's shadow grain fleet – vessels used to transport grain stolen from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In recent days, there has been a sensitive Israeli track regarding such stolen grain, and our diplomats, together with the Prosecutor General's Office, have joined the relevant efforts. We are building a system to counter the shadow grain fleet in the same way as the shadow oil fleet," Zelensky said.
The president also discussed European policy priorities with the foreign minister, emphasizing the need for strong diplomatic results in May.
In addition, staffing decisions were made within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic corps. Ukraine's leadership also coordinated positions for voting in international organizations in the interests of peace and Ukraine.
As Ukrinform previously reported, the European Union contacted Israel's Foreign Ministry regarding reports that a Russian shadow fleet vessel was unloading stolen Ukrainian grain at the port of Port of Haifa, warning it may impose sanctions on those helping finance Russia's war.
