One of Khmelnytskyi NPP power units resumes operation after repairs
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Energoatom.
“On April 28, 2026, after planned preventive maintenance, Energoatom specialists successfully reconnected a power unit of the Khmelnytskyi NPP to the power grid. Power output is currently being ramped up. This is the first unit repaired as part of the 2026 maintenance campaign,” the statement said.
It is noted that nuclear engineers completed the scheduled work four days ahead of schedule. This is expected to provide an additional 70 million kWh of electricity generation.
“The maintenance campaign began in April and will last until October. We are planning the work in a way that spreads it out over time to avoid creating a significant deficit in the grid. The main goal is to enter the autumn-winter period with all nine power units located in government-controlled territory ready for operation,” said Acting CEO of Energoatom Pavlo Kovtonyuk.
As reported, Energoatom paid UAH 78.39 billion in January–March to support electricity affordability for the population under the public service obligation (PSO) mechanism.
