Ukraine’s Air Force reports efficiency problems: 170 crews report no shootdowns in year
According to Ukrinform, this was reported in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda by Deputy Commander of the Air Force, Colonel Pavlo Yelizarov.
“We took all the crews that were under our command – there are more than 300 of them. Of these, 66 shot down more than 10 Shaheds, others fewer than 10. And 170 crews did not shoot down a single one over the year,” Yelizarov said.
According to him, a similar situation is observed at the regional level as well: during an experiment in one region, out of 28 crews, 24 did not destroy a single drone over the course of a year.
“The issue is effectiveness of use. When we came in, the first thing we did was conduct an analysis: what is happening in the Air Force with drone interceptors, what is the quality of pilot training,” Yelizarov added.
At the same time, he emphasized that even the resources already mobilized are sufficient. They simply need to be used effectively, structured, and properly analyzed.
As reported by Ukrinform, after a difficult winter marked by numerous enemy missile and drone attacks, there is a shortage of missiles for various air defense systems. This includes missiles for Patriot systems as well as NASAMS and IRIS-T.
