Israeli President Isaac Herzog has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit Israel.

He said this at a joint meeting with Zelensky and media representatives in Kyiv on Tuesday, October 5, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Mr. President, if you have such an opportunity, I would be very happy to receive you on your visit to Israel," Herzog said.

He also praised Ukraine's efforts to preserve the memory, history and cultural space of the Jewish community.

"Today, it is important to praise that Ukraine feels responsible for the memory, history and cultural space of the Jewish community, which has lived here for many years, more than a thousand years. From the preservation of Jewish cemeteries, which are so necessary, to the creation of memorial centers in memory of the killed Ukrainian Jews," he said.

Herzog noted that such efforts are necessary and valuable, because, according to him, they are the basis for a bold partnership in the fight against anti-Semitism, wherever it manifests itself, as well as for building a common, fruitful, successful and promising future.

In addition, Herzog thanked Zelensky and the Verkhovna Rada for adopting the Law "On Preventing and Combating Anti-Semitism in Ukraine." He also thanked for the help provided to many Jews during Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

"Mr. President, I believe that the past and the present lead us to a wonderful, common future between Ukraine and Israel and that we are now at a significant point in time for everything related to the partnership between our countries," Herzog said.
