Members of the European Parliament's monitoring mission of former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox have handed a petition for Yulia Tymoshenko's pardon over to President Viktor Yanukovych, chief of the opposition leader's defense team Serhiy Vlasenko told reporters on Friday in Kyiv, the Batkivshchyna party's press office said in a statement.

Members of the European Parliament's monitoring mission of former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox have handed a petition for Yulia Tymoshenko's pardon over to President Viktor Yanukovych, chief of the opposition leader's defense team Serhiy Vlasenko told reporters on Friday in Kyiv, the Batkivshchyna party's press office said in a statement.

"Two hours ago I had a meeting with members of the European Parliament's mission Pat Cox and Aleksander Kwasniewski. I have their permission to inform you that today during a meeting with Viktor Yanukovych, in order to legalize the possibility of Yulia Tymoshenko's going abroad, Cox and Kwasniewski have filed a petition signed by them to pardon Yulia Tymoshenko,” the lawyer said.
