Russians strike Zaporizhzhia with MLRS, says prosecutor's office

The Russian army struck a residential area of Zaporizhzhia with MLRS. An investigation has been launched.

This was reported on Telegram by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to Ukrinform.

“According to the investigation, on January 28, 2026, at around 4:40 a.m., the Russians struck one of the city's residential areas, preliminarily using MLRS,” the statement said.

As a result of the strikes, apartment buildings were damaged and cars located near the impact sites were burned. Four people are known to have been injured. Information about the victims is being clarified.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, a criminal investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As reported by Ukrinform, four people were injured in Zaporizhzhia, which the enemy attacked in the early morning.

Earlier, it was reported that the enemy struck the Kosmichnyi district of the city at dawn. A high-rise building was hit. More than a hundred apartments were damaged, and about 20 cars were destroyed.
