Russians attempting to seize riverbank along Siverskyi Donets – military
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the 7th Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces.
The overall situation in the area under the responsibility of the 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade remains tense. The enemy is using small-group tactics to infiltrate Dronivka and is also trying to bypass Ukrainian positions via the Siversk – Zakitne road.
There has also been noticeable enemy activity from the direction of Yampil, mostly futile attempts to transport troops on motorized rubber boats across the Siverskyi Donets and establish footholds along the riverbank.
In addition, the Russians are attempting to bring up artillery and deploy pilot stations near the northeastern outskirts of Dronivka and in the Serebrianskyi forest.
The main goal of Russia is to take control of the riverbank along the Siverskyi Donets, including Dronivka, Platonivka, and Zakitne, in order to concentrate resources, deploy artillery and UAV positions, and control logistical routes.
Units of the 81st Brigade have been able to detect the enemy in advance and strike immediately, targeting both personnel and static positions. These coordinated actions have successfully prevented Russian advances toward Dronivka and other nearby settlements, the military emphasized.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on January 4, there were 229 combat clashes between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian invaders, with the largest number of attacks repelled by Ukrainian defenders in the Huliaipole and Pokrovsk sectors of the front.
