Government increases healthcare spending to UAH 239B in 2024 - PM Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is allocating UAH 1 billion to equip bomb shelters and create safe conditions in hospitals across the country.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on January 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to him, Ukraine is increasing funding for the healthcare sector in 2024. Healthcare expenditures in 2024 will amount to UAH 239 billion, which is UAH 31 billion more than last year.

“We are adding UAH 16 billion to the healthcare guarantee programme... We are launching a pilot project for free dental prostheses for veterans. We are allocating UAH 1 billion for the construction of shelters and safe conditions in hospitals. We continue to make healthcare more accessible and of higher quality, regardless of where a person lives. In particular, we will pay significant attention to financing rehabilitation, maternity care and child protection, and cancer diagnosis and treatment. We are also increasing the Affordable Medicines programme - up to UAH 5.2 billion,” said Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the continued development of digital tools - in the near future, it is planned to launch an electronic patient's register, where Ukrainians will be able to change personal data and manage declarations with family doctors.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the government would increase budget expenditures on social, healthcare and education sectors in 2024.
