The Pulitzer Prize board awarded a special citation to Ukrainian journalists covering the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The Pulitzer Prize board is pleased to award a special citation to the journalists of Ukraine for their courage, endurance and commitment to truthful reporting during Vladimir Putin’s ruthless invasion of their country and his propaganda war in Russia,” Marjorie Miller, administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes, announced on Monday.

It was underscored that despite bombardment, abductions, occupation and even deaths in their ranks, Ukrainian journalists have persisted in their effort to provide an accurate picture of a terrible reality, “doing honor to Ukraine and to journalists around the world”.

Pulitzer Prize is awarded annually since 1917 on the first Monday in May by the trustees of Columbia University in New York. Each winner receives a certificate and $15,000 cash award (raised from $10,000 in 2017).
