Ukrainian experts down Shahed drones across Middle East, Zelensky says

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian specialists had successfully intercepted Iranian-made drones, including jet-powered models, in several Middle Eastern countries.

The Ukrainian President made the remarks while speaking with journalists, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“We sent our military experts to the Middle East, including specialists in interceptor drones and electronic warfare. In some countries, we demonstrated how to operate interceptors. Did we destroy targets? Yes. Did we do so in just one country? No, in several. And I believe this is a success. This was not a training mission – it was real support in building modern air defense systems that actually work. Yes, they shot down Shahed drones,” Zelensky said.

He noted that in countries which opened their air defense systems to Ukraine, Ukrainian experts were able to quickly advise on how to strengthen them.

“In some cases, we directly shared our experience in protecting the skies. In any case, all of this produced very positive results and increases respect for Ukraine. We also intercepted jet-powered drones. This is a very strong signal, I believe. We have shown that it works. Now it is only a matter of time before we begin mass-producing interceptors capable of destroying jet-powered drones,” the President added.
