Lithuania informs Council of Europe of its intention to join Special Tribunal for Crime of Aggression against Ukraine

This was reported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the social network X, according to Ukrinform.

“Today, Lithuania notified the Council of Europe of its intent to join the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, becoming the first state after Ukraine to do so,” the post reads.

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this decision reflects unwavering support for Ukraine, commitment to the UN Charter, and a firm belief that justice requires accountability.

“We call on other states to follow suit,” the post says.

As reported by Ukrinform, on June 25, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an agreement with the Council of Europe at the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg, establishing a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.

On July 15, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law ratifying the Agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.

According to Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, the decisions on establishing the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine are now in the final stages.
