OSCE plays key role in documenting Russia's war crimes against Ukraine – Valtonen

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, stressed this during the OSCE Human Dimension Conference in Warsaw, Ukrinform reports.

"Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is not only a blatant violation of international law—it is an assault on the very principles that underpin the Helsinki Final Act. It is a direct assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and a brutal rejection of the norms that have preserved peace in Europe for decades. Forced deportations, attacks on civilians and war crimes - these are not just violations of international law; they are an attack against humanity itself," Valtonen said.

She stressed that accountability for the crime of aggression must not remain a distant aspiration, but concrete reality. "Justice must be pursued – not only for the sake of Ukraine, but for the credibility of the international system itself," Valtonen said.

Against this backdrop, Valtonen highlighted the important role the OSCE plays in documenting human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law committed by Russia.
