Russia's attack on vessels in Black Sea: Turkey says two of its citizens were injured
According to Ukrinform, Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this in a statement.
"A Turkish owned, Vanuatu flagged vessel transporting dry cargo from the Port of Odesa, Ukraine, to Türkiye was attacked last night (28 May) by an unmanned aerial vehicle, resulting in minor injuries to two of our citizens in the crew," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
It was noted that their condition is being monitored by Turkey's Consulate General in Odesa.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the escalation in the Black Sea related to the war.
"Our concerns regarding the risks and threats posed to our region by the recent war related escalation observed in the Black Sea, as well as our warnings about its potential negative repercussions for our country, are being conveyed at all levels to all relevant parties," the statement said.
Ankara also called on all parties to refrain from steps that could lead to an uncontrolled escalation of the situation and reaffirmed the need to ensure the safety of civilian shipping in the Black Sea.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry emphasized that it supports ending the war through negotiations and is ready to facilitate measures aimed at preventing further escalation and accelerating the peace process.
As Ukrinform previously reported, yesterday three oil tankers involved in transporting Russian oil were attacked by drones in the Black Sea near Turkey's northern coast. No casualties were reported in those incidents.
