UN General Assembly to discuss situation in Ukraine’s TOT on Thursday

The United Nations General Assembly will hold a session on Thursday, September 4, to discuss the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

That is according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

The session will take place in a debate format, with no decisions expected to be made. It will begin at 10:00 (Kyiv time: 17:00) and continue throughout the day.

Ukraine is expected to be represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betza.

Since 2018, UN member states have annually included the item “Situation in the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine” on the General Assembly agenda. It was previously discussed in February of 2019–2022, in July 2023, and on February 24, 2024.

Earlier, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, called for an end to the war in Ukraine and emphasized the need to achieve peace based on the UN Charter and international law.
