Rutte thanks Canada for military aid to Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed gratitude to the Canadian government for providing another package of military assistance to Ukraine.

He wrote this on social media platform X, reports Ukrinform.

“Grateful to Canada — Prime Minister Mark Carney has just announced funding for a package of U.S. military equipment for Ukraine,” Rutte stated.

He emphasized that NATO allies continue to deliver essential equipment and supplies to ensure Ukraine has everything it needs for self-defense and to achieve a just and lasting peace.

As reported, Canada has announced a new defense aid package for Ukraine worth CAD 2 billion (about USD 1.5 billion).

Earlier today, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, visiting Ukraine for the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day, stated that drones, ammunition, and armored vehicles worth over CAD 1 billion from the new aid package will arrive in Ukraine next month.

He added that Canada will also allocate tens of millions of Canadian dollars for emergency medical aid, construction of bomb shelters, and strengthening local democracy in Ukraine, including support to counter cyberattacks.
