Chiefs of defense from NATO member states reaffirmed their commitment to achieving a just, reliable, and lasting peace in Ukraine during a virtual meeting held on Wednesday.

NATO Military Committee Chair Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone announced this on the social media platform X, Ukrinform reports.

"Great, candid discussion among NATO Chiefs of Defense, today […] On Ukraine, we confirmed our support. Priority continues to be a just, credible and durable peace," Dragone said.

He highlighted an "excellent update" provided by General Alexus Grynkewich, the new Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), who was taking part in such a meeting for the first time.

"I thanked everyone for their always proactive participation in these meetings: we are united, and that unity was truly tangible today, as always," Dragone said.

He also added: "Our thoughts remain with the Ukrainian brave brothers and sisters in arms. We praise their relentless courage in defending their homeland."

NATO's North Atlantic Council also held a videoconference earlier in the day to discuss the outcomes of recent meetings in Washington focused on securing peace in Ukraine.
