President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that international partners have committed $1.5 billion to NATO’s PURL initiative—a strategic mechanism that enables Ukraine to acquire U.S.-manufactured weapons.

The head of Ukrainian state announced this on Telegram, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Our new defense-support PURL initiative with partners is already bringing tangible results. As of today, we already have $1.5 billion pledged. Through the NATO Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List initiative, NATO members can cooperate to purchase U.S.-made weapons for Ukraine – a mechanism that truly strengthens our defense,” Zelensky stressed.

He noted that so far, the Netherlands contributed $500 million, a joint pledge from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden – $500 million, and yesterday Germany added another $500 million.

“That’s a very real boost, and I thank Germany for this important step,” the President noted.

He stressed that every contribution under PURL is a direct investment in Ukraine’s ability to defend people’s lives and bring a dignified peace closer.

Zelensky thanked all allies for standing with Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, the PURL initiative— Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List —is a newly established mechanism aimed at supplying Ukraine with weapons based on its most urgent defense needs. It enables NATO member states to fund the delivery of U.S.-made arms and technologies through voluntary financial contributions.
