Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced the potential for a meeting in Istanbul involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Fidan made this statement in an interview following the 17th BRICS Summit, Ukrinform reports, citing TRThaber.

The Turkish minister stressed that the closest Russia and Ukraine have come to peace was during negotiations held in Istanbul.

He provided an update on the possible meeting of the countries' leaders in Istanbul.

"What is new about the leaders' summit is that, compared to the past, everyone, including Putin, sees no problem with coming together with their current counterparts," Fidan said.

Turkey's top diplomat added that "there is no problem" with Trump, Putin and Zelensky coming together.

He also noted that Russia is ready for a third round of negotiations and is currently awaiting a response from Ukraine.

Earlier, Zelensky stated that all decisions in Russia are made solely by Putin, and therefore a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia is essential to achieving peace.

On June 2, the second round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations took place in Istanbul. Following the talks, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who headed the Ukrainian delegation, said that a proposal was made to hold a meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian presidents between June 20 and 30. Russia declined the offer.

On June 27, Putin stated that Russia is prepared to hold a third round of talks with Ukraine, adding that further engagement will resume after the completion of the exchange of fallen soldiers' remains.
