Kellogg: US, German, British, French representatives will attend Istanbul meeting
U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg said this in an interview with ABC, according to Ukrinform.
"We'll have what we call the E3 with us, that is the national security advisors from Germany France and Great Britain. When we were in London, they kind of helped us mold a term sheet for Ukraine. And they'll be there [in Istanbul] as well. And we'll get their feedback as well," Kellogg said.
He noted that "reasonable discussions" would include NATO membership and the status of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions – areas where Russian troops are currently present – as well as Crimea, which is temporarily occupied by Russia.
"These are the things [we are going to discuss] when we get into Istanbul next week. We'll sit down and talk. What does it look like? What are your feelings on it?" Kellogg said.
He also added that neither Washington nor Kyiv has yet seen the "memorandum" on a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine that Moscow has promised to provide.
On Wednesday, May 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow had proposed holding a second round of talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul on June 2.
Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha suggested that Russia hand over its ceasefire proposal to Ukraine immediately rather than waiting until Monday.
On Thursday, May 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia had still not provided Ukraine or its partners with the memorandum containing ceasefire proposals.
