EU doing everything to improve economic development of Ukraine – Mingarelli

Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership (EaP) member states should work in good faith to ensure decent living conditions for their citizens, and the European Union will convince Russia to respect the sovereignty and independence of these states.

Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli stated this at a public discussion about the future of the Eastern Partnership, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“It's not about what the EU wants [from the Eastern Partnership states], but it’s about what Ukrainians, Georgians, Belarusians, Moldovans, Armenians, Azerbaijanis want, and they want to live in stable and safe countries with decent living conditions. For us, this means that we must intensify our discussions with a big neighbor and convey a message to this neighbor that all these countries are independent and sovereign, and this must be respected. This is our goal. We have a corresponding policy and now we apply sanctions for this,” he said.

According to Mingarelli, the EU is doing everything to improve the economic development of our country, because we need to create jobs so that young people do not leave Ukraine.

“This requires a positive investment climate and the rule of law,” the EU ambassador stressed.
