Yanukovych asks ECHR to protect his rights

Ukrinform
Ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has filed the lawsuit against Ukraine with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) because of "regular violations of his human rights by Ukraine."

This is posted on the website of the Joseph Hage Aaronson LLP British law firm, which represents the interests of Yanukovych.

In particular, the lawyers of the former president refer to violation of the presumption of innocence in relation to Yanukovych and mention the judgment of the Pechersky district court of Kyiv, which gave permission for the special pre-trial investigation into the case against the former president. In addition, the lawyers appeal against the court's refusal to allow Yanukovych to take part in the court hearings via videoconference, perceiving it as the violation of the right to defense.

Earlier, the son of the former president Oleksandr Yanukovych filed the lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights with the request to oblige Ukraine to pay him compensation for the loss of ownership of the insolvent Ukrainian Development Bank.
