Poland ready for joint defense industry ventures with Ukraine
Bartlomiej Babuska, former head of Poland's Industrial Development Agency and Poland's representative on the Business Advisory Council operating within the Ukraine Donor Platform, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Yes. We are ready to create joint enterprises in this field," Babuska said, noting that Ukrainian partners operating in Poland would also be able to benefit from Polish support instruments.
In this context, he stressed that Poland's largest special economic zones are located near the Ukrainian border and offer tax incentives of up to 70% following investments.
"Ukrainian companies are already operating there. For example, near the city of Mielec there is the so-called Aviation Valley, and there is also the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone. Last year, we approved business support decisions worth one billion zlotys. Perhaps we are the most attractive economic zone in Europe," Babuska said.
He also added that in the dual-use sector, Poland's Inofama SA is in talks with the Ukrainian investment fund Gloster regarding the production of unmanned systems intended for use on the battlefield.
"It is important that such an unmanned system will be dual-use and will not require a license," he said.
He expressed hope that the first contracts between Ukrainian and Polish companies could be signed during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) in Gdansk.
