During a working visit to Chișinău, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi expressed disagreement with Moldova's decision to limit the import of grain and oil crops from Ukraine.

As the Ministry’s press service informs, Solskyi made a corresponding statement during a meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Vladimir Bolya.

"The minister went to Moldova after the Moldovan side announced its intention to temporarily take measures regarding the import of grain and oil crops from Ukraine as some EU countries have done before. Solskyi expressed his disagreement with such Moldova’s decision," the statement reads.

During the meeting, Minister Solskyi also noted that the grounds for such a decision are unclear because Ukraine does not import these crops to the Republic of Moldova.

Bolya assured that the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through Moldova will be carried out in full. Negotiations will continue.

On May 5, Bolya announced Moldova's intention to introduce temporary restrictions on the import of grain and oil crops from Ukraine at his meeting with Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks.

Earlier, the European Commission adopted exceptional and temporary preventive measures on imports of a limited number of products from Ukraine to five EU Member States: Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The measures concern only four agricultural products – wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seed – originating in Ukraine.
