Russian attack leaves more than 10 high-rise buildings damaged in Kyiv, emergency rescue operations ongoing
According to Ukrinform, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated this on Facebook and released a video showing the aftermath response at the strike locations.
"In Kyiv, more than 10 multi-story residential buildings, private houses, and civilian infrastructure were damaged. In the Darnytskyi district, nearly 70 elderly people were rescued from a care home at the epicenter of the strike, while in the Dniprovskyi district the Delta special unit is carrying out complex high-altitude work to dismantle hazardous structures," the statement said.
Heating points have been set up at the impact sites, and investigators and mobile units of the State Migration Service are working to assist those affected.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, together with Head of the State Emergency Service Andrii Danyk, visited the locations where emergency rescue operations are ongoing. They received briefings from operational headquarters on the progress of rescue work, debris removal, and assistance to affected residents.
"Our goal was to inspect all apartments as quickly as possible to check for casualties. Of course, we have deployed police units that will work around the clock to protect the property of our citizens," he said.
According to the State Emergency Service, emergency rescue operations continue in the Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts following the Russian combined attack.
Rescuers are clearing debris, dismantling hazardous structures, and inspecting damaged buildings.
District administration headquarters are operating at the sites to assist residents. Units of the Kyiv Emergency Rescue Service, municipal services, and volunteer organizations are involved.
Heating points have been deployed, field kitchens are operating, and assistance is being provided to affected residents.
Operations are ongoing, and information is being updated.
As Ukrinform reported, from the night of December 27 Russian forces carried out another massive attack on Ukraine, using nearly 500 drones and about 40 missiles, including Kinzhal missiles. The main target was Kyiv's energy and civilian infrastructure.
In the capital, a 71-year-old man was killed and 32 people were injured, including two children.
