Norway strengthens Ukrainian Navy – Neizhpapa
According to Ukrinform, Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa reported this on Facebook following a meeting with the Commander of the Norwegian Joint Forces, Vice Admiral Rune Andersen.
"I held a meeting with Vice Admiral Rune Andersen, Commander of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, during his visit to Ukraine… The Kingdom of Norway is making a substantial contribution to the development of the Navy's capabilities, providing critically important resources — from modern small boats and mine countermeasure equipment to training and education for Ukrainian service members. We discussed specific steps that will further strengthen our fleet. We share a common vision of what resources and technologies the Navy needs now and what will be crucial in the long term," Neizhpapa wrote.
He added that the sides also discussed the security situation in the Azov–Black Sea region.
Neizhpapa expressed gratitude to his Norwegian counterpart for the significant support provided by Norway since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, as well as for fruitful cooperation within the Maritime Capabilities Coalition.
As Ukrinform reported, Norway will continue to provide large-scale military, financial, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in 2026 at the same level as this year.
