Russia’s strike on Hirnyk: casualty toll up to nine

The number of injured civilians as a result of a Russian strike targeting a residential quarter in Hirnyk, Donetsk region, has increased to nine, including two teenagers.

That’s according to the National Police, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that the search and rescue operation has been completed for the time being while the police continue to examine the affected area.

According to law enforcement, Russia hit the settlement at around 16:00 on Wednesday. Three households were completely destroyed and dozens were damaged.

"People were trapped under the rubble. Two children, both born in 2007, are among the injured. They are being treated by medics," the police said.

Law enforcement initiated criminal proceedings into the violation of the laws and customs of war.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on January 24, Russian invasion troops launched a strike targeting the residential sector in the town of Hirnyk, Donetsk region, damaging two apartment blocks and 43 private houses.
