Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is convinced that the NATO summit brings Ukraine closer to victory and talked about agreements with partners regarding the protection of the Ukrainian sky and armored vehicles.

He said this at a press conference in Vilnius on Wednesday, July 12, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"A very important moment with the protection of our sky. Now there are small steps forward, and they are very important. I will not talk about the number of Patriot [air defense systems], but it is important that this decision was made. This is one thing. The second thing is related to armored vehicles of various types. There is public information, there is nothing to hide here - these are Bushmasters, and there are other decisions regarding armored vehicles," Zelensky said.

He said he would also like to have a "breakthrough" with regard to artillery, but this issue is still being discussed. According to him, some progress was made, but there are no specific decisions yet.

"The power of weapons always brings victory on the battlefield," Zelensky said.

When asked whether the summit brought Ukraine closer to victory, Zelensky said: "Yes."

The NATO summit was held in the Lithuanian capital on July 11-12. The creation of the NATO-Ukraine Council was announced at the summit.

Zelensky said that Ukraine appreciates the recognition that it does not need a Membership Action Plan to join the alliance and called it a good result of the current summit.

The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries approved the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius.
