Svitolina reaches Australian Open quarterfinals for second straight year

Ukraine's top-seeded tennis player Elina Svitolina has defeated American Madison Keys in the fourth round of Australian Open, the season's first Grand Slam tournament ($44.5 million in prize money).

The match, which lasted one hour and 35 minutes, ended 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 in favor of the 24-year-old resident of Kharkiv, Ukrinform reported.

In a quarterfinal match, No. 6 seed Svitolina will play No. 4 seed Naomi Osaka from Japan, who defeated Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Svitolina performs at the Australian Open for the seventh time. She reached an Australian Open quarterfinal for the second straight year.

The Australian Open will end on January 27.
