Sybiha, Wadephul open Ukraine House at Munich Security Conference

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul opened Ukraine House, which is operating for the first time on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).

As reported by an Ukrinform correspondent, the opening of the dedicated Ukrainian venue took place on Friday morning, February 13, the first day of the conference.

Ukraine House, located just steps away from the MSC venue at the Bayerischer Hof, is supported by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, the Office of the President of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Council of Arms Manufacturers.

According to MSC organizers, the opening of Ukraine House – designed to “highlight Ukraine’s resilience and its central role in Europe’s security landscape”—underscores the conference’s continued support for Ukraine. Ukraine House is expected to serve as a vibrant curated space hosting numerous discussions, side events, and briefings, as well as a working hub for the Ukrainian delegation.

Speaking at the opening, Sybiha stressed that the event demonstrates Ukraine’s priority status at this year’s conference.

“Today's event demonstrates that Ukraine is a priority at this year's conference. We are in a new era. Security outsourcing for Europe is over. It is time to build inner strength. And this is only possible with Ukraine as an integral part of the new European security architecture. This is why it is fair for Ukraine House to stand alongside American House and German House. This reflects Ukraine’s decisive role in collective security,” Sybiha said.

An exhibition curated by Bjørn Geldhof, artistic director of the PinchukArtCentre, was also unveiled at the opening. The exhibition focuses on security threats facing Europe and its ability to adapt at the necessary speed. Among the exhibits is the symbolic work Change or Die by Ukrainian artist Oleksii Sai, described as a Ukrainian message to Europe.

Visitors to Ukraine House can also view a Russian Shahed drone used by Russia to attack Ukrainian cities, alongside a Ukrainian interceptor drone designed to counter this weapon, as well as other Ukrainian innovations in unmanned technologies.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the 62nd Munich Security Conference will take place on February 13–15, 2026. Organizers expect around 200 government representatives from approximately 120 countries, including nearly 60 heads of state and government, 56 foreign ministers, more than 30 defense ministers, and leaders of over 40 international organizations.
