The Culture Ministry of Ukraine launches the work of Book Institute, Culture Minister Yevhen Nyshchuk has said.

“This is a very important event for the whole thinking people. The Book Institute is the organization that has to spread new trends of making reading popular,” the minister said at a press briefing on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The minister said that Ukraine has a lot of problems in book industry and there is a decline in readership. Nyshchuk named several tasks set for the Book Institute.

"The task is to support authors, distribute books and acquaint the European public with Ukrainian books," Nyshchuk said.

He added that this is also an important step in the language policy of the state.
