Supporting Ukraine with weapons: Zelensky meets with Latvian PM

The Head of State announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“I met with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina. It is very symbolic that this meeting took place on Ukrainian Statehood Day. Thank you for this gesture, a sign of solidarity with our people,” Zelensky said.

The president noted that the meeting discussed defense support for Ukraine.

“We discussed defense support for our soldiers and its financing with the help of European instruments, in particular within the framework of SAFE. We also discussed drones, European integration, and the opening of negotiation clusters. Fairness in this process must be ensured. I am grateful to the people and government of Latvia for their significant assistance and the new defense package,” added the head of state.

Zelensky noted that Latvia is making a significant contribution to strengthening the Ukrainian army.

“Thank you for your leadership and willingness to allocate even more than 0.25% of GDP to support Ukraine,” he emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina arrived in the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday, July 15, at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
