US in Jeddah did not deny Europe's participation in peace process - Deputy Head of PO
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“This is a clear position of the Ukrainian side, and it has not changed during this time: along with the American delegation, the delegations of Ukraine and Russia, there should be a delegation from, let's say, Europe - because we are talking about all countries of the European continent, not just members of the European Union. At the suggestion of the Ukrainian side, this provision was added to the joint statement, and the American side did not object,” he said.
Zhovkva noted that after the meeting in Jeddah, he and the head of the OP informed key European partners, including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, about the results of the negotiations. Relevant coordination meetings will be held this week.
“It's hard to say who will be the European representative. I think it should be a decision of the European countries themselves, acceptable to Ukraine, so we will talk about it in the coming days,” he added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the meeting between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Jeddah on March 11 shattered Russian plans to escalate relations between the United States and Ukraine.
