China has observed new trends in the political settlement of the "Ukraine crisis" and hopes for decisions that will lead to a sustainable and lasting peace, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.

Speaking at a briefing on Wednesday, March 5, Lin commented on the March 2 meeting of European leaders in London regarding Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

He stated that China continues to uphold four key principles in addressing the situation, including respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, adherence to the UN Charter's goals and principles, peaceful resolution of disputes, and consideration of the "legitimate security concerns" of all parties -- a phrase often used in Russian propaganda to justify the invasion of Ukraine.

"China hopes that relevant parties can find a sustainable and lasting solution that takes into account each other's concerns through dialogue and negotiation," Lin added.
