The U.S. Treasury Department has announced restrictions against an international network of companies and individuals who, despite the previously imposed sanctions against Iran, helped it obtain electronics and equipment for the production of combat drones.

This is stated in the report of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Treasury Department, Ukrinform reports.

"OFAC designated one individual and six entities in a sanctions evasion network that has facilitated Iran’s procurement of electronic components for its destabilizing military programs, including those used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)," the report says.

It is specified that the U.S. sanctions were imposed against the head of the Iranian company Pardazan System Namad Arman (PASNA), as well as front companies and suppliers of PASNA based in Iran, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.

"The network sanctioned today has procured goods and technology for the Iranian government and its defense industry and UAV program. Treasury will continue to enforce its sanctions against Iran’s military procurement efforts that contribute to regional insecurity and global instability," said Brian Nelson, Under Secretary of the Treasury for Counterterrorism and Financial Intelligence.

As reported, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on PASNA in January 2018 for providing financial, material, technological and other support to Iran Electronics Industries (IEI), an organization subordinate to the Iranian Ministry of Defense.
