President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Canada for a new package of sanctions targeting, in particular, 100 tankers belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet.
The head of state announced this on the social media platform X, according to Ukrinform.
“Canada’s recent package imposes new, strong sanctions against the Russian shadow fleet, specifically 100 tankers. This increases pressure over Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine. This sanctions package is also directed against Iranian drone manufacturers,” Zelensky said.
He called the new restrictions from Canada “important and timely steps.”
“Both Russia and the Iranian regime must feel the pressure, and they must be stopped,” the President emphasized.
As reported, Canada has expanded its anti-Russian sanctions by imposing restrictions on hundreds of vessels in the shadow fleet.
