FM Kuleba on beheading of Ukrainian POW by Russians: It’s absurd that Russia presides over the UNSC

Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba has called it absurd that Russia is presiding over the UN Security Council, while Russian troops commit atrocities against Ukrainian prisoners of war.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“A horrific video of Russian troops decapitating a Ukrainian prisoner of war is circulating online. It’s absurd that Russia, which is worse than ISIS, is presiding over the UNSC. Russian terrorists must be kicked out of Ukraine and the UN and be held accountable for their crimes,” Kuleba emphasized.

A reminder that Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Daria Zarivna stated earlier that the video showing the beheading of a Ukrainian soldier had been released for intimidation purposes.

Last week two videos were posted on social media, allegedly showing the beheadings of Ukrainian defenders. According to CNN, the videos appear to be of separate events. One of them may have been filmed very recently, while the other – from the amount of foliage seen on the ground – looks like it was filmed during the summer.

The first video was filmed by Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group and shows the beheaded corpses of two Ukrainian soldiers lying on the ground next to a destroyed military vehicle. The second video is heavily blurred and shows a Russian fighter using a knife to cut off the head of a Ukrainian soldier.
