Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk met with Ambassador of Greece to Ukraine Pantelis Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos to discuss the state of Ukraine’s energy system following recent large-scale Russian attacks, as well as the country’s urgent needs for rapid repairs and equipment reserves.

According to the Ministry of Energy’s press service, one of the key priorities discussed was the accumulation of sufficient gas reserves. The parties discussed opportunities to further develop gas supply routes to Ukraine and other European countries.

The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian and Greek energy companies. Ambassador Dimitrakopoulos confirmed that the Greek energy sector is highly interested in deepening collaboration with Ukraine. Both sides agreed to continue the dialogue, with upcoming opportunities for in-depth discussions at the ReBuild Ukraine Construction & Energy international exhibition in Warsaw and the P-TEC Forum in Athens.

“There are many details we need to work through together, but I am confident we will achieve strong results in deepening our partnership for Ukraine’s energy resilience,” Hrynchuk stated.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine’s National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities approved the implementation of a joint product for booking gas import capacity via the Trans-Balkan corridor. This will enable the import of up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Greece.

The Trans-Balkan Gas Corridor connects gas markets in Southern Europe with Central and Eastern Europe. It runs through Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, and also facilitates gas transit from Turkey to Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland.
