Russia shifts tactics: targeted strikes aim to cripple Ukraine’s energy system region by region – Energy Ministry
Deputy Energy Minister Mykola Kolisnyk said this during a television broadcast, Ukrinform reports.
“Compared with last winter, there’s been a change in the enemy’s shelling tactics. If earlier, during massive strikes on energy facilities, the enemy tried to hit everything everywhere, now they’re focusing on specific regions and individual facilities,” Kolisnyk explained.
According to him, this approach is aimed at breaching an facility’s defenses by using various types of weapons. At the same time, Russians are trying to destroy both generation facilities and elements of the transmission and distribution system.
“This tactic makes it more difficult to quickly restore normal power supply,” Kolisnyk added.
He emphasized that despite the targeted strikes, both the state and local authorities are doing everything possible to ensure people continue to have access to energy.
As reported earlier, due Russia’s massive attacks, on Monday, October 20, power limitation schedules for businesses and industrial consumers are in effect across all regions of Ukraine from 06:00 to 22:00. In Chernihiv region, hourly power outages are being implemented.
