Ukraine requests new cooperation program from IMF – Svyrydenko
The head of the government reported this on Telegram following a meeting with the IMF Mission and consultations with the government team and the National Bank of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
“Today at the meeting, I handed IMF Mission Chief Gavin Gray a letter requesting a new cooperation program that should support Ukraine over the next several years. We agreed to continue the necessary consultations between our teams in the coming months to obtain a positive decision from the IMF Executive Board by the end of the year,” she wrote.
Svyrydenko noted that the IMF Mission had been working actively in Kyiv over the past week. She stated that Ukraine had passed a record eight reviews under the current program. The head of government expressed gratitude to the Fund for its support throughout all the years of the full-scale invasion.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that active hostilities continue, and the draft state budget for 2026 was drawn up with the understanding that the war is far from over.
“During the conversation, we discussed the draft state budget for 2026. Our priority remains unchanged — financing defense and social programs. To this end, we are working on finding domestic resources and mobilizing international financing,” she said.
The parties also focused on issues of attracting capital for private sector development, deregulation, and energy recovery.
As reported, Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko discussed with representatives of the International Monetary Fund, led by Mission Chief in Ukraine Gavin Gray, the implementation of the IMF program under the Extended Fund Facility and anti-corruption reforms.
