EU may propose seventh sanctions package against Russia in coming weeks – Bloomberg

Ukrinform
The European Union is planning to propose a new sanctions package against Russia over its war in Ukraine in the coming weeks.

The relevant statement was made by Bloomberg, referring to sources familiar with the matter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The proposal could include restrictions on gold imports, measures to fix previous sanctions and further listings of individuals and entities,” the report states.

Meanwhile, discussions on mechanisms to cap the price of oil are ongoing and unlikely to come in the near future. Some EU member states have been pushing to expand the bloc’s sanctions to hit gas, but most nations are not planning to go there at the moment.

A reminder that the sixth sanctions package against Russia and Belarus was endorsed by the EU on June 3, 2022.
